Copy Curmudgeon is the surprisingly friendly alter ego of Colleen Barry, who’s been a copy editor since 2002. She’s worked at newspapers and magazines, in print and online, and mostly in AP style, with occasional forays into Chicago and MLA.
She likes the Oxford comma, singular “they,” and serif fonts. She believes that her ire should not be wasted on people who are genuinely confused about this complex language, but saved for peevers intent on enforcing meaningless distinctions.
She doesn’t usually talk about herself in the third person.
